'Cool story': Observers mock Trump for bragging about 'tacky' 24 karat gold in Oval Office

Political observers mocked a social media post by President Donald Trump on Sunday in which the president bragged about the "24 karat gold" decorations in the Oval Office.

"Some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, 'freak out' when they see the quality and beauty. Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!!"

Trump's post received a barrage of mockery on other social media platforms.

"He cut healthcare for 15 million Americans because it was 'wasteful spending,'" Melanie D'Arrigo, executive director of Campaign for New York Health, posted on X.

"When he promised to 'lower costs,' he meant 'use your money to buy tacky gold decor,'" J.J. Abbott, former communications officer for Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, posted on X.

"Cool story, but when are we going to afford beef again?" journalist Ron Filipkowski posted on X.

"I think Trump has seen the tweets pointing out you can buy the shit he’s put in the Oval Office at Home Depot," journalist Matt Novak posted on Bluesky.
