Nancy Pelosi Tweets Happy Birthday to Willie Mays but Posts Photo of Wrong Player

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been left a little red-faced after she went to wish baseball legend, Willie Mays, a happy birthday, but unintentionally aimed her greeting at the wrong player.
That's a little awkward, isn't it?
Here's the full story...
Now, Pelosi isn't usually in the headlines for her shoddy baseball knowledge.
In 2007, she became the first woman to serve as speaker of the House, which is second in line to succeed the president.
After being handed the House gavel by her pre successor, John Boehner, she said:
"It is a historic moment for the Congress and a historic moment for the women of this country. It is a moment for which we have waited over 200 years. For our daughters and granddaughters, today we have broken the marble ceiling. For our daughters and our granddaughters, the sky is the limit, anything is possible for them."
She made history again in January 2019 after regaining her position as speaker...
Becoming the first person to do so in more than sixty years.
However, despite these groundbreaking achievements, there's still room for the occasional blunder.
As stated earlier, Pelosi has become the laughing-stock of Twitter after she attempted to wish baseball legend, Willie Mays, a happy birthday.
On Thursday last week, she shared a photo of herself posing with who she thought was Mays, alongside the greeting:
"Happy 90th Birthday to an all-American icon, Willie Mays. A trailblazing, record-breaking baseball player, civil rights leader, and champion for youth sports and well-being, Willie Mays is a civic legend and national treasure. #SayHey90'"
However, despite the sentiment behind her post...
People were quick to point out that the man she was pictured smiling with wasn't Willie Mays.
People have had a lot to say about her blunder...
Omg I saw the picture and thought wth??? I’m a huge baseball fan and clearly I know Willie Mays 🤦♀️

Of course she would get that wrong too but it’s the thought that counts right?

Oh God.. How phony.

How about politians just stop making empty tributes all together. If you can't identify them in a photo, why do you have to give them a tribute? Leave it for the people who actually cared more.

Of course, Pelosi hastily deleted the post, but not before people were able to screenshot it.
Madam Speaker, that’s not Willie Mays cc @SpeakerPelosi pic.twitter.com/q8PUzkChiR

As you can see in the tweet above, Pelosi had posted a photo of her with baseball star, Willie McCovey, who passed away in 2018.
She quickly reuploaded her birthday message...

But this time with a photograph of the actual Willie Mays.
We all make mistakes, right?
