Bill Gates' reported affair with a female staffer was exposed to his wife, Melinda via a letter she "demanded" to be read.
In the personal note, details of an alleged and "inappropriate" relationship were outlined.
The news comes as both Bill and Melinda prepare for a divorce after a twenty-seven-year marriage.

Now, the news of the elusive couple's divorce sent shockwaves all across the world.
Bill and Melinda have been married since 1994, and they have accomplished a hell of a lot together, including setting up the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which aims to reduce poverty and enhance healthcare in the United States.
They're also known for being incredibly generous...
Having donated hundreds of millions of dollars over the years to numerous charities and organizations around the world.
However, behind closed doors, things weren't as idyllic as they seemed.
On Monday, May 3rd, Bill announced that he and Melinda will be getting divorced.

"After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life."
Of course, speculation surrounding the end of their marriage has been rife...
Though the majority of people have been talking about one thing and one thing only - their assets.
It's no secret that the couple accumulated a vast wealth throughout the duration of their marriage.
Bill Gates is one of the world's richest billionaires, with Wealth-X, a global high net worth intelligence and data company, estimating his net worth to be at least $134.1 billion.
Though his success began with Microsoft, his shares in the company now only represent 19.6% of his wealth...
Much of his money is now tied to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, but the exact amount hasn't been disclosed.
Because of the Foundation, the division of assets between Bill and Melinda may be much more complicated.
Court documents show that they have a separation agreement, but terms have not been made public.
There's reportedly no prenup between the pair...
Which means a 50/50 split of assets is more than likely.
And, on the day their impending divorce was announced, Bill bestowed an eyewatering sum upon his soon-to-be ex-wife.
On May 3rd, Bill's investment vehicle, Cascade Investment, allegedly transferred $1.8 billion worth of stocks to Melinda, according to SEC filings.
That must've softened the blow, right?
And what about Bill and Melinda's 3 - now grown - children?
Well, despite how upsetting the news of their parent's separation must be for them, it was recently announced that Jennifer, twenty-five, Rory, twenty-one, and Phoebe, eighteen, will each be given a very comforting sum of money.
During an interview with The Daily Mail in 2011, Bill was asked about reports that he planned to each child $10 million – and while he did not confirm the exact number, he did say that it would be a "minuscule portion" of his wealth.
He made similar comments on Reddit.
"I definitely think leaving kids massive amounts of money is not a favor to them," Bill said in response to a Reddit user's comment on the $10 million figure. "Warren Buffett was part of an article in Fortune talking about this in 1986 before I met him and it made me think about it and decide he was right. Some people disagree with this but Melinda and I feel good about it."
An exact sum is yet to be confirmed.
Still, $10 million is better than nothing, isn't it?
But now, as things start moving forward in the divorce, it seems as though other parties are also getting involved.
It was revealed that a woman who worked for Gates came forward outlining an "inappropriate" relationship with the billionaire back in 2000. However, the details weren't released until 2019 via a letter to the Microsoft board.
Of course, the news did not sit well with people at all.

Apart from being there at the beginning, any wife cheated on multiple times should be entitled to half his wealth so infidelity has a price.

After the board saw the letter, it was then read by Melina.
And straight after, Gates quit the Microsoft board with immediate effect.
His spokeswoman then confirmed the affair but stated that it was not the reason he stepped back from the board.
However, the Wall Street Journal reported that the board did in fact get Gates to step down as the relationship was deemed "inappropriate."
A spokesman told the outlet this:
"Microsoft received a concern in the latter half of 2019 that Bill Gates sought to initiate an intimate relationship with a company employee in the year 2000.
"A committee of the Board reviewed the concern, aided by an outside law firm to conduct a thorough investigation. Throughout the investigation, Microsoft provided extensive support to the employee who raised the concern."
On the same day he quit Microsoft, he also quit the board of Berkshire Hathaway.
In a press release, he said he would continue to serve as a technical adviser to Microsoft's Chief Executive though.
This is not the first time a scandal like this has occurred for Gates.
The New York Times revealed how Gates asked 2 different women who worked at Microsoft on dates while still married to Melinda. Yikes.
