'Woke' NYC School Curriculum Prompts Dad To Move to Florida

A father has divided opinions after he pulled his daughter from her private New York school as a result of their "woke" curriculum...
Yet remarkably, he isn't the only parent unhappy with the teachings of similar elusive schools in the area.
Institutions such as The Heschel School, a private school in Manhattan with reported costs of $43,000 a year, has seen a rise in disgruntled parents removing their children over their progressive curriculum.
For many of these schools, rrospective families reportedly have to take "anti-racism pledges" for their children to be considered for admission...
So it's hardly surprising to hear that their curriculums touch heavily upon white privilege and the BLM movement.
Well, many parents are clearly uncomfortable with these teachings...
In case you haven’t seen it, white guy pulls his daughter out of the $54000/year Brearley School because he things they are too worried about race. A must read, and an elegantly written ode to white privilege https://t.co/lVGhZoUuCm

And, therefore, have decided to remove their children for them to be privately educated elsewhere.
Earlier this month, The New York Post shared an open letter penned by Andrew Gutmann, the father of a twelve-year-old girl at a similar institution, The Brearley School, which detailed his disapproval of their "anti-intellectual" and "illiberal" teachings.
His letter was quick to go viral...
NYC: Mr. Andrew Gutman slammed Brearley School for "forcing his daughter to feel guilty about being white." No one is forcing, but dude went bonkers. The Headmaster of Dalton School quit over race-based curriculum & policies. These schools are for NYC elites' children.

And, ultimately, it spurred on other disgruntled parents to speak out.
But the latest parent to speak publicly about his distaste is Harvey Goldman, a businessman who has recently relocated to Florida as a result of the school's curriculum.
Goldman recently spoke with Fox News, in which he said that he was shocked by the amount of negative and inappropriate "anti-racist" dogma he said was being aimed at his fourth-grader and her classmates at the Heschel School in Manhattan.
Goldman also penned a letter to the school...
Where he compared their teachings to "child abuse."
"First and foremost, neither I nor my child, have 'white privilege,' nor do we need to apologize for it. Suggesting I do is insulting. Suggesting to my 9-year-old child she does is child abuse, not education."
Many people have applauded Goldman's words in his controversial letter...
Brilliant piece, well worth a read.

Nails it. Everything that is so wrong with the current direction of travel of western society is highlighted in this very well considered and crafted open letter.

What a thoughtful, well constructed piece. And precisely what concerns so many on this side of the pond, too.

However, others have simply slammed him as a racist.
An extremely well written letter by a very highly educated racist.

I’m sure NYC is thankful he left 👋🏼

Man who confuses overt racism for systemic racism pulls kid out of schools because they don’t understand systemic racism.

Not exactly a ‘tour de force’
That’s a terrible misguided and essentially ignoring a reality letter

Wow what a completely unnuanced antihistorical piece of garbage this guy truly doesn't understand what anti racism is and clearly doesn't want to know.

Goldman explained:
"Little children don't need to feel bad about the color of their skin. That's what they're teaching them, to feel bad about who they are."
"Schools are supposed to be teaching you confidence," he continued, adding that most parents are teachers are "scared to say something."
He also pointed out that the school was "teaching these young children about having white privilege" and "the murder of George Floyd," which he noted, "wasn't an established murder" at that point.
Goldman then moved to Florida and enrolled his daughter in a public school that he made sure did not include critical race theory (CRT) in the curriculum, The New York Post reported.
Noting that "CRT is a controversial prescription for addressing racial issues centered around the idea of 'white privilege,'" which "originated in universities and has spread to K-12 schools - both public and private."
The Heschel School has since responded:
"We are a Jewish day school and very proud of our secular and religious curriculum, which Mr. Goldman is fundamentally misrepresenting," a statement from the Heschel School said. "His family informed us last summer that they would likely relocate to Florida for financial reasons. We were surprised to read about his new explanation for the move and question his motives for making such statements at this time."
