This Year's First Supermoon, The Pink Moon, Will Rise on Monday
This Year's First Supermoon, The Pink Moon, Will Rise on Monday

This Monday, we are in for a real treat as there will be a beautiful sight to be seen - and, to make it even better, you'll be able to see it from your own home!
You're not going to want to miss this one...
Are you ready to see something good?
There's a pretty exciting event happening this Monday...
And it's up in the sky.
A super-rare "pink moon" is set to hit our skies...
So, what is a pink moon exactly?
Well, did you know every full moon of the year has its own name?
The pink moon is April's ...
Others include January's wolf moon, February's snow moon, and March's worm moon.
Every month's moon is different.
And so...
Every full moon of the year gets a name.
January's is also known as the Canada Goose Moon, Cold Moon, Freeze Moon, and Frost Exploding Moon.
So when will this first pink moon of 2021 be visible?
It's set to appear at the end of the month.
The night of April 26th, to be precise.
And if the weather's clear, you should be able to see it without equipment.
But if you're really into moons?
It could be worth getting your telescope out for this one.
What makes this pink moon even more exciting?
It's also the first supermoon of 2021.
Supermoons are marginally bigger than a regular full moon.
Keep your eyes on the skies...
2021 is truly a year of great moon action.
The next full moon is another supermoon.
The flower moon will rise on May 26th.
We then have the strawberry moon, the buck moon, and the sturgeon moon.
They're in June, July, and August.
Followed by the harvest moon, hunter moon, and beaver moon.
They're in September, October and November.
And we'll finish the year with the cold moon.
That aptly named one comes in December.
What a year!
So this Monday, look out for a moon that's 14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual.
It'll be highest in the sky at 11:32 p.m. Eastern Time Monday night.
But you should be able to spot it on Tuesday, too.
But sadly, despite the name, it's unlikely to actually look pink.
The pink moon is also sometimes called the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon.
Will you be checking it out?
