An Emmy winner who worked on Orange is the New Black, has been found dead 6 months after initially going missing - but the details surrounding the discovery are chilling.

Since the news broke, people from all over the world have been reacting with horror and heartbreak.

Evelyn Sakash, sixty-six, was discovered at her Queens home in New York on Tuesday, March 30th.


She had been listed as missing for the last 6 months.

According to AP, a missing person report stated that Evelyn was last seen alive on September 30th, 2020.


One neighbor told NYDN that Evelyn was enjoying a massively successful career as a production designer, but fell into a downward spiral following the death of her mother last April.

​She had worked on huge productions such as Mermaids, Still Alice, and Taxi," and TV shows like Orange is the New Black and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.


She was also a 2-time Daytime Emmy nominee for "Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design" for her work on the children's series, Between the Lions, winning the award in 2003.

"She became so much more withdrawn and looked sick," the neighbor recalled of her deterioration over the last few months.


"I think that's when she started to pick up more of the hoarding... I went into her house years ago and it was normal."

In the months leading up to her death, Evelyn had developed a severe hoarding issue. ​


​When police finally entered the property, they were greeted with garbage, moldy dishes, and random debris.

​Evelyn had also kept animals within the hosue.


Months before she had been discovered, police had been called to clear the apartment of cats and dogs, but they had never realized the owner's body was there.

The police even visited the apartment for a second time with the K-9 unit...


And still, her body wasn't discovered, one family friend claimed.

Friends had even banded together and raised $5,000 in their desperation to find her.

​But this week, her body was finally found.


Evelyn was discovered buried beneath a pile of garbage in the kitchen of her Queens home.

​The grim find was made by her sister after she hired a cleaning company to clear the hoarded rubbish and belongings.


"This is just devastating," Ellen Brown, sixty, told NYDN of her older sister's death.

​"She had a full life. She was so extraordinarily talented. She was a brilliant mind... I don't want my sister to be remembered like that, like the way she was found."


"She was so generous with people. I want all of that to be the final testament and not that she was found in a bad condition... She leaves a legacy behind of generosity and beauty."

​A medical examiners report obtained by the publication said she died of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, a build-up of cholesterol plaque in the arteries.
