Army Sgt. Arrested For Confronting a Black Man Walking Through Neighborhood

Just when you thought that the world couldn't get any worse, an Army sergeant has been recorded assaulting a young Black man for simply walking around the neighborhood.
The video is appaling...
It's safe to say that tensions between the Black community and law enforcement have been high in recent years.
The Black Lives Matter movement came as a response to the killing of an unarmed Black man by police officers which became almost an epidemic - and was hugely frightening.
But it's really representative of a much larger issue of racism in the USA.
It seems clear that the difference of experience of day-to-day life between a Black and a white citizen of the USA poses a huge ideological and social problem to the country.
But, recently, the internet witnessed something truly harrowing.
A U.S. Army sergeant saw a Black man he didn't recognize walking through his neighborhood and decided it warranted assault...
And people are understandably horrified by the video.

Forty-two-year-old Jonathan Pentland was recorded aggressively confronting the man known as Deandre...
#JonathanPentland wife can be heard saying "we'll see how this turns out" in one video, the Pentlands have been forced out of their home, their phone is cut off & social media blanked & he's been arrested and charged with offences including assault, so it's going very well 3/4 pic.twitter.com/H1YB4oDvCi

Forcefully shoving him around the street on Monday evening.
Deandre remained calm and said he lived around the area...
Literally just walking through the suburb of Summit.
Although Pentland didn't accept that as an answer...
Accusing him of loitering around their home for fifteen minutes.
That's when things took a turn for the worst...
The Richland County Sheriff's Office says calls came in describing an altercation going down. They were initially told that Deandre was walking around the area suspiciously...
Eventually, they say neighbors asked Pentland to step in.
After the clip went viral, police say they passed their findings to a judge, who decided to bring Pentland in on an arrest warrant.
The Sheriff's Office also says this of the victim...
He apparently has an underlying medical condition and the authorities are working to get him the help he needs.
Pentland ended up getting arrested early Wednesday morning over the altercation.
He has since been booked on 3rd-degree assault and battery charges.
Fort Jackson officials also commented on the viral video saying...
"This type of behavior is not consistent with our Army values and will not be condoned. We have begun our own investigation and are working with the local authorities."
