Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Did Not Marry Before Official Royal Wedding, Archbishop of Canterbury Confirms

The Archbishop of Canterbury has confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not marry before the official royal wedding...

Instead he had a number of "meetings" with the pair.

It comes after a month of questions following Meghan's and Harry's claims that they married in a secret wedding prior to the big day.

Claims that angered many people...

Scroll on to see exactly what the Archbishop had to say about the situation.

Now, it's the interview everyone has been talking about.

Following their controversial departure from the royal family, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, sat down with Oprah to give their side of the story.

Their 2-hour-long interview aired on CBS on Sunday, March 7th...

And viewers watched on in shock as some mind-blowing allegations were made against the monarchy.

For example...

It was claimed that senior members of the family had refused to get Meghan professional help when she was experiencing suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy with Archie.

She also addressed the ongoing issues of racism within the monarchy.

Meghan claimed an unnamed senior member of the Royal family raised "concerns" about how dark Archie's skin would be before his birth.

"In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we have in tandem the conversation of, 'you won't be given security, not gonna be given a title' and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born."

But, out of all the revealations made during the 2-hour interview...

There is one in particular that everyone is talking about.

The couple revealed that they had tied the knot in a "secret service" 3 days before their highly-publicized, £50 million royal wedding in 2018.

"We called the Archbishop, and we just said, 'Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world, but we want our union between us,'" Meghan had explained.

She then added that the ceremony was "just the 2 of us in our back yard with the Archbishop of Canterbury."

"You know, 3 days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that."

In the U.K, a marriage must be solemnized by a member of the clergy in a church, or in a place specified in a special license in the presence of 2 witnesses...

So it's easy to see why Meghan could have made a small mistake when discussing the "secret wedding."

Well, nearly a month on from the bombshell, the couple finally admitted their mistake.

They allegedly confessed that the secret wedding described in the interview did not happen, The Daily Beast reported.

A spokesperson for the royals told the publication:

"The couple exchanged personal vows a few days before their official/legal wedding on May 19th."

Since such a service does not constitute a formal wedding, the royal pair's secret union was not legitimate.

And now, their claims of a secret wedding have been debunked even further...

As the Archbishop of Canterbury has rejected Harry and Meghan's claim.

And it's caused a stir online...

Breaking his silence, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, revealed that he signed Harry and Meghan's wedding certificate on the day that millions watched on.

Welby spoke to Italian newspaper, La Repubblica, who asked if he married the couple in secret.

"If you talk to a priest, you expect them to keep that talk confidential," he said.

"It doesn't matter who I'm talking to. I had a number of private and pastoral meetings with the Duke and Duchess before the wedding."

"The legal wedding was on the Saturday."

"I signed the wedding certificate, which is a legal document, and I would have committed a serious criminal offence if I signed it knowing it was false."
