With spring break upon us, chaos has begun.

Miami Beach saw hundreds of unruly spring breakers flock to the city over the weekend with over 150 people arrested.

Now, as a result of the carnage, Miami Beach have declared a state of emergency and even a curfew...

Spring break has become a big deal.


Every year, spring break vacation is the perfect opportunity for students to let off some steam before the stress of finals and graduation.

It may have been expected to be quiet this year  due to the pandemic.


But apparently not...

​As despite the pandemic and COVID-19 laws, spring breakers have flocked to Miami Beach.


Bringing along their wild behavior, over 150 people have been arrested. Scroll on for the shocking scenes...

Now, COVID-19 completely stole away 2020 from us...


And we've sadly seen more than 2 million people worldwide lose their lives to this deadly virus.

​But it's true when they say...


All bad things will eventually come to an end... right?

In November 2020, the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved...


And, after months of world-wide lockdowns and quarantines, this news was music to everyone's ears.

​The vaccine's developers - Pfizer and BioNTech - described the milestone as a "great day for science and humanity."


And, in December, the companies announced that they would be supplying the U.S with one-hundred million additional doses.

Spirits are high...


Because at least ninety-eight million people have been vaccinated here in the States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

And we aren't the only ones receiving the vaccine!


Other countries such as the U.K have been administering the vaccines out to their residents at an incredible pace.

​And, to combat the few vaccine skeptics, various celebrities and public figures had their jabs administered on live TV.


Former vice-president, Mike Pence, was the unlikely figure to lead the trend, with him being one of the first to receive the vaccine during a live White House broadcast.

And then our newly elected president, Joe Biden, quickly followed suit.


After receiving the second dose of the vaccine, he tweeted:

"Folks, I just received the second dose of my COVID-19 vaccine - and just like the first dose, it was safe, quick, and painless. I urge everyone to get vaccinated once it's your turn. Because only together can we save lives and beat this virus."

​For many, the success of the vaccine has signalled an end to the dark days of the pandemic...


Particularly as President Biden has promised to make all adults in the U.S eligible for COVID-19 vaccination by May 1.

​But, the end is not here yet.


And so we must not relax our efforts just yet, something those wishing to celebrate spring break seem to have forgot...

This year, despite the restrictions, people have been flocking to Miami Beach for spring break.


But it's caused issues...

The city saw over a hundred arrests for incidents including the seizure of weapons, drugs and disorderly conduct.


Behaviour that has been criticized online...






Crowds gathered at Florida's Miami Beach over the weekend. 


Friday saw the worst of the unruly crowds in the party hotspot with around 120 people arrested and 2 police officers injured during clashes.

The gatherings led police to deploy pepper balls to disperse the crowd who were "disorderly and surrounding officers."


Miami Beach Police arrested thirty more people on Saturday.

As per Local 10 News, Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said: "It is really a difficult situation."


"A lot of people are coming here and they are coming here with the wrong intentions."

​He also warned that there will be more arrests made if they continue to disobey laws.


"If you are coming here because you think anything goes, you're going to have a terrible time. We are going to arrest you," he said.

​The issues are typical for spring break crowds, but with Covid-19 protocols in place, the task of policing the crowds has been made twice as hard.


Initially the city was under a midnight curfew amid the pandemic.

​But now things have tightened.


And the curfew has been changed to 8pm...

​A state of emergency has also been declared. 


They're saying that the crowds are 'more than we can handle'...

​Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber explained:


Too many are coming, really, without the intention of following the rules.

"The result has been a level of chaos and disorder."


Gelber continued to say that because of the behaviour of those flocking to Miami Beach they simply can't control it without the curfew and state of emergency.

​Many are predicting there will be disastrous consequences as a result of the chaos.


And time will tell...
